How can we faithfully confess Christ in a pluralistic world? How does the Confession of 1967 speak to us in its 35th anniversary year? What role do and ought our confessions play in the Reformed tradition? What does it mean for Presbyterians to be a confessing church?

The schedule also includes remarks by former Vice President Walter Mondale, more than 30 workshops, an open plenary discussion about the church, and plenty of opportunities for fellowship and conversation.

Location:

The conference takes place at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave (at 12th St.), Minneapolis, MN 55403.

Transportation:

If you are driving to the conference, see directions here.

There is easy shuttle and van service from the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport to downtown hotels. You should have no need to rent a car, unless you plan on traveling before or after the conference.

SuperShuttle has a desk at the "Ground Transportation/Lower Level" at the airport. Identify yourself as being with the Covenant Conference to get the special reduced conference rate of $13 per person one way, $21 per person round trip.

(Make a reservation with your hotel's concierge for your return to the airport. We suggest that you do this immediately upon arrival at your hotel so that SuperShuttle can anticipate your need for service.)

Super Shuttle operates to hotels only. No pick-up or drop-off at Westminster Church.

Taxis are also easily available. Cab Fare from the airport to downtown hotels is approximately $30.

Parking for guests at conference hotels costs from $12 to $14 / night. However, all-day parking is also available at the Convention Center Parking "Ramp" (=garage), for $7 for up to 24 hours. Enter at Marquette & 13th St.

Accessible Parking (with appropriate placard) is available at the Westminster Church Ramp (entrance on 13th Street).

Schedule:

Thursday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. -- Conference begins with opening plenary (John Wilkinson), workshops, dinner, opening worship (Curtis Jones, preaching), welcome reception.

Friday, Nov. 8 -- Worship (Andrew Foster Connors, preaching), remarks by Walter Mondale, keynote (Shirley Guthrie), lunch, workshops, town hall, dinner, communion worship (Cynthia Jarvis, preaching).

Saturday, Nov. 9-- Plenary (Anna Case-Winters), closing worship (Linda Loving, preaching). Conference ends at noon.

We have negotiated a special arrangement with Northwest Airlines that does not require a Saturday-night stayover. In addition, you can get a 5% discount over published fares.

$125 -- Payable to Covenant Network of Presbyterians

Special group offer: Share the experience with colleagues from your church! The third (and sixth) person from one congregation comes free! Some churches are bringing vans!

Registration is free for seminary students -- but you do have to register in advance.
Scholarships available from the David B. McDowell Memorial Scholarship Fund
-- Contact Covenant Network Office for information.
And ask about low-cost or no-cost housing for seminarians and younger pastors -- first-come basis.
